Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) consumers can request and obtain a free credit report once every 12 months from each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion). Implementation was phased in across the nation and, as of today, those of us in The South can order our free reports via this website:

I realize that many of my readers are destined for bankruptcy anyway but seriously, folks, look it over for inaccuracies and identity theft or you may live to regret it.
