Great news! Jason Sabo of United Ways of Texas will be blogging the upcoming session of the Texas Legislature live from the capital:
As you might have guessed, United Ways of Texas is busy preparing for the Texas Legislature to convene. We'll promote a unified United Way legislative agenda, produce an easy to access schedule of hearings to be broadcast on-line, and continue our regular policy updates as the session progresses. I have - however - heard from a few true blue fellow political junkies that they want more detailed information from me. To that end, starting on the first day of the session - January 11, I am going to be launching the United Ways of Texas Capitol Blog. (I had to look "blog" up in my on-line dictionary and now know that a blog is just a "web log" or a regularly updated web site containing news, gossip, and up-to-the-minute information.) The Texas Capitol has gone "wireless", so I will be updating our blog regularly throughout the day from hearing rooms deep in the bowels of the Capitol. Think of this as a little experiment in e-democracy and an effort to open up the public policy process for folks hundreds of miles from Austin. In other words, you'll get to see the legislative process through my eyes, scary as that might sound. It'll be funny, irreverent, and hopefully of interest to nonprofit practitioners and their allies across Texas. The more people reading the blog, the more this blogger will blog. (See, I can even use the word as a verb!) Stay tuned for more information after the new year.Posted by sarah at December 21, 2004 11:35 AM | TrackBack
