Kuff reports that Florida is considering dumping the traditional "election day" in favor of an 11-day election season. Besides the advantage of more time to vote, it also allows folks to vote anywhere, eliminating panicking voters who can't find their precinct come November 2nd.
I've heard rumors that Glen Maxey of Democracy for Texas is pushing for similar changes here. I think it's a great idea. As Glen (reportedly) said, "Ask anyone in Austin where they're supposed to vote and they'll say H-E-B." It's true. Hardly anyone realizes that their actual precinct location is at the church around the corner...
