From the Texas Democratic Party:
U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay outfoxed local Democrats who'd been planning to protest his appearance at a Monday fundraiser in downtown Austin. The powerful Texan slipped into town four hours earlier than originally scheduled, started raising cash for his re-election campaign and hoped to hit the road before any angry protestors arrived on the scene...I guess I get to take a leisurely lunch now. According to the press release, the fundraiser was moved up from noon to 8am. Bet that was a big success.
