Things to Do This Weekend - UPDATED

In typical 4-day work week fashion, I've written off the possibility of being the least bit productive this week and started making plans for the weekend. A sampling of things to do:

Austin Rock the Vote fundraiser - Iron Cactus Downtown - 6th & Trinity - 10:00 pm - 2am; $3.00 or $5.00 for under 21 at the door; All proceeds go to Rock the Vote; $2.50 frozen Rita's, $2.50 well drinks & $3.00 Mexican Martinis; DJ Kunal M; register to vote!

Friday, Sept 10
Escapist Bookstore Open House - Sunset to 11pm. "Art and event posters from Seripop, French-Canadian Poster geniuses! Live Music from Austin's favorites, The Panties! Electronic Loop Madness from NYC's PLOOPS starring Paul Ahern and crew! Screenings of Outfoxed and other items of interest outside!" 2209 S 1st St

Book Signing - Glenn W. Smith of DriveDemocracy.org and author of The Politics of Deceit: Saving Freedom and Democracy from Extinction (Wiley, August 2004, $24.95, cloth), will speak and sign books at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 10, at Book People in Austin.

Saturday, Sept 11
VOTE - Saturday is your last chance to vote in the AISD bond election. Locations here.

John Walker Benefit - Tia Carrera, Ignorance Park, and the Octopus Project raise legal funds for Johnny Walker Saturday evening. Emo's.

Sunday, Sept 12
Museum Day - "For the 7th year in a row, the Austin Museum Partnership is hosting Austin Museum Day - a free, city-wide rediscovery of Austin museums throughout the day on Sunday, September 12, 2004." Seth and I went a few years ago and had a blast.

So much for getting some gardening done...
