Past Due: Ben Barnes on Helping Bush Avoid Vietnam

Have you ever been somewhere where you felt like something incredibly newsworthy was going on right in front of your nose but found yourself powerless to capture the moment?

That was me this past June when former Texas Lt. Governor Ben Barnes told a crowd of local Kerry supporters gathered for a meetup at Mother Eagan's pub (including yours truly and a couple of friends) how he regretted helping George W. Bush avoid service in Vietnam. The good folks at Austin for Kerry have placed a short clip online and it's finally capturing some attention (see BOR and Drive Democracy). I'm glad people are taking notice but a little sad that Austin for Kerry wasn't able to post a longer clip - as the Austin Chronicle tried to capture, his speech was really engrossing.

View the clip here.
