To be perfectly honest, I'm a little jealous that I won't be attending the Democratic Party National Convention in Boston this year. Sure, part of the convention is a bunch of rich old white folks schmoozing it up which has no appeal whatsoever. But the convention itself is only a small portion of the activity - the receptions, protests, fundraisers, organizing meetings, and rallies for candidates and lefty-organizations are what make it really interesting. There's constantly a half-dozen things to see and do. Karl-T from Burnt Orange Report is attending as Texas' youngest delegate at only 19. I was 19 in 1996 when I attended the convention in Chicago and it was amazing...I'm a little curious whether I would still find it as mesmerizing today.
For those of us stuck at home, Karl-T has pulled together a list of all the folks who will be blogging the convention. Seth and I are also working with some women from our neighborhood to hold a convention party the night of Kerry's acceptance speech. Everyone is welcome so mark you calendars:
