revamp!

I've spent the past year trying to come up with an appropriately handsome aesthetic for this blog. I've come to admit a couple of things to myself:

1. I'm not a graphic designer; and
2. I don't have the time or skills to do anything especially original until someone invents a for-dummies GUI for CSS.

That said, I've decided to adopt a clean, simple blog layout using what's available to me. I'm using the handy Moveable Type Plain Jane template with a customized banner that Seth graciously helped me create. Those of you who know me well are familiar with my disdain for the Times New Roman font but I found that it works quite nicely for graphics when you use an editor like Photoshop to manipulate the spacing between letters and lines of text and use the Sharpen filter to make it somewhat less pixelized. I dropped the Calendar and Monthly Archives that come standard with Moveable Type templates and came up with what you see here. I'm open to friendly advice about how to spruce this up a bit more - send me your feedback.
