the race is on

What a crazy and unexpected conclusion to the Iowa caucuses...I thought Edwards would do better than the polls were showing but ahead of dean?

I really like John Kerry but I find it difficult to believe that he'll be able to hold onto the frontrunner spot - Iowa caucus winners rarely do so. His policies are pretty good but that rarely wins elections.

Dean could still come back, at least in New Hampshire where his New England personality is a better fit with voters. Clark will probably show well in New Hampshire but I don't think he'll win - the guy's just a bit too Republican to attract many votes from the party's base in the primaries.

I'm thinking that Edwards is a man to watch in the coming weeks. Keep in mind that Clinton first caught the public's attention when he came in second in New Hampshire in 1992...

For good background on the primaries, check out the leftcoaster summaries. His entries are a bit out of date but you can at least read about who won in the past.
